Look for authorisation details.
Mosquito and tick repellents must have the appropriate biocidal authorisation in Türkiye. Descriptions such as “cosmetic”, “natural”, “botanical” or “organic” do not replace it. Permission to sell a cosmetic does not authorise its use as a mosquito or tick repellent.
Verify the record through ÜTS.
Check skin-applied mosquito and tick repellents through ÜTS and room treatments through HSGM’s relevant authorised-product list. Read any peel-open inner label too. The ÜTS link opens a login screen; use the menu to reach the relevant list.
- Find the authorisation date and number on the back label.
- Open the TİTCK ÜTS database and select “Bilgi Bankası → Biyosidal Ürün Ruhsatlarını Listele” (list biocidal product authorisations).
- Search by brand name or barcode and compare the record with the product label.
Where will you use it?
Skin-applied repellents provide personal protection. Plug-in products are for indoor use as specified on the label. Never apply room treatments to the skin or use one product’s instructions for another.
Check the pests, ingredients and protection duration.
Check that the product label lists the pest you want protection against. Protection duration can vary: Zerobite Spray provides up to 4 hours against mosquitoes and up to 2 hours against ticks and houseflies. Check the ingredient and its concentration, as well as the product’s intended use.
Who can use it, and how?
Follow the product’s own label for age and pregnancy restrictions, application areas, dose and daily limits. Before buying, check a readable back label and any peel-open inner label; do not rely on front-label claims alone.
